One of the topics we discussed in class is the ability to teach through the virtual campus. This from my point of view has advantages but also has some drawbacks. In this post I will discuss the pros and cons from my point of view.
I think this possibility is very beneficial for those who work schedule and that they are unable to travel to a university to receive class. Even such classes by videoconferencing allows students to receive instruction from specialists or experts in certain areas, other countries, without the need to travel to that country.
But it is also true that this new activity will encounter some problems, which to me are very important. And is that you lose the coexistence with other colleagues who have to go to a college campus. Another negative aspect is that I think the classes by videoconference may cause a lack of attention from students. Due to the possible absence of a concentration suitable environment not being the teacher of fitness. In
my opinion I think the personal contact with peers and teachers every day, teaches us things students can not learn through videoconferencing. Such as learning to speak in public or making presentations in class against peers and against the teacher.
In conclusion, I have to say that the Internet seems like a great tool which I find far more advantages than disadvantages, but on the issue of taking classes through video conferencing, I am not in favor. The reason is that I think there are many important things students need to learn (such as public speaking, able to explain things ...) and through video conferencing can not be learned. While it is true that I think is very important opportunity that we offer video conferencing can receive lectures by experts from other cities or even other countries without having to move. But of course these talks would give a complementary aspect to the classes at the university received by the teacher physically in the classroom.
